Audi Q7 facelifted: Digital lights and flexible seating headline premium SUV’s upgrade

Audi is bolstering its Q7 for its third generation. More high-tech, more customisable, and as versatile as ever, the German large SUV is banking on a sharper design and lighting innovations to win over buyers. It’s a promising cocktail, but what’s the catch?

A more assertive Q7, lit by its ambitions

Audi isn’t beating around the bush: the Q7 is a cornerstone. For over 20 years, this SUV has embodied the pinnacle of the premium segment for the Four Rings. For this third generation, the brand with the four rings intends to continue this mission with a vehicle that aims to be more versatile than ever, capable of juggling professional demands, weekend family getaways, and long motorway journeys. The new Q7 promises to redefine standards in space, dynamism, comfort, and technology. Its exterior design, muscular and expressive, adopts a new digital lighting signature that leaves nothing to chance.

Space, a reinvented luxury for up to seven occupants

Inside, the Q7 rolls out the red carpet. The space is generous, and for the first time, Audi is offering individual seats in the second row, transforming the Q7 into a true mobile lounge with six seats, ideal for business trips or long distances. The classic seven-seat configuration remains on the options list, of course, with the possibility of fitting three child seats side-by-side. All seats are electrically adjustable for optimal comfort. One of the showstoppers is the illuminated panoramic roof, whose transparency can be adjusted, creating a unique atmosphere day and night.

Lighting innovations for enhanced safety

Audi has gone all out on lighting technology. The digital Matrix LED headlights, equipped with micro-LED modules, project unprecedentedly precise light patterns, adapting light distribution and offering advanced driving assistance. At the rear, the third-generation digital OLED taillights communicate with their surroundings and feature active light signatures. The Q7 offers up to eight different light signatures for the front and rear, with striking three-dimensional effects. A new feature completes the package: a light projection on the ground from the doors, welcoming passengers with a white diamond pattern that illuminates the path.

V6 TDI powertrain: power and efficiency meet

Under the bonnet, the new Q7 relies on the 3-litre V6 diesel engine, available in two power outputs: 220 kW (299 hp) and 180 kW (245 hp). These units are paired with MHEV plus technology, incorporating a next-generation starter-generator and power unit that can provide up to an additional 18 kW (24 hp). An electric compressor ensures smooth starts and immediate response, even at low revs. The quattro all-wheel drive transmission is standard, with an optimised centre differential for improved traction and agility.

Pricing and availability: premium comes at a price

Produced at the Bratislava plant, the new Q7 will be available to order in Germany from June 2026, with the first deliveries scheduled for September. Prices start at €87,900 for the 180 kW version and rise to €90,500 for the 220 kW model. These prices confirm the SUV’s high-end positioning, ready to face the competition with enhanced technological features and refinement.
