The 2026 season is on the horizon and with it, Peugeot Sport finally unveils the composition of its teams for the endurance championship. Following a reshuffle that has generated much discussion, particularly with the departure of Jean-Éric Vergne and the arrivals of Théo Pourchaire and Nick Cassidy, the lion brand is gearing up to compete on the international stage. Get ready, it’s going to be sport!

Strategic Choices

The six drivers from the French manufacturer in the FIA WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans were already known, but the distribution between the two cars was still unclear. Today, it is now official: the Peugeot 9X8 No. 93 will be driven by Nick Cassidy, Paul Di Resta, and Stoffel Vandoorne. On No. 94, the trio will consist of Loïc Duval, Malthe Jakobsen, and Théo Pourchaire.

A Balanced Crew

Peugeot Sport has made its choices considering various technical and sporting criteria, in order to optimise the performance of its two Hypercars. One could almost speak of a secret recipe, where each ingredient counts to concoct an explosive mix on the track.

The Pillars of the Team

“Loïc and Paul are true pillars of the team and will have a central role within each crew,” emphasises Olivier Jansonnie, technical director of Peugeot Sport. In his eyes, these two drivers bring valuable experience that could make a difference in crucial moments of the race. “The trios present an excellent balance, combining drivers who are particularly strong at race starts with others who are very competitive in qualifying.”

A Long-Term Vision

This organisation is not just a simple response to a current situation; it is part of a long-term strategy. As Jansonnie points out: “This structure has been designed to provide the competitiveness and adaptability necessary to perform in all racing conditions, which is essential given the level of competition in the FIA WEC.” In other words, Peugeot leaves nothing to chance.

Changes at the Helm of the Team

At the end of the month, Olivier Jansonnie will take over from Jean-Marc Finot at the head of Stellantis Motorsport. A change that could well influence the team’s dynamics. Emmanuel Esnault will replace him to lead the Peugeot endurance team. Managerial changes that could bring a fresh impetus to the team.

Towards New Challenges

As the competition intensifies and expectations rise, Peugeot Sport seems well-equipped to face the upcoming challenges. With experienced drivers and a solid technical team, the French brand hopes to achieve great performances in this thrilling endurance championship. It remains to be seen whether this strategy will bear fruit on the track, but one thing is certain: motorsport fans will have plenty to hold onto in their seats!
