Rumors are intensifying around a possible French alliance at Honda for the 2027 season. Johann Zarco, already under contract with LCR, could be joined by Fabio Quartararo, whose interest in the Japanese brand surprises even his compatriots. Between challenges and hopes, the road to a new era seems to be taking shape.
Intersecting Destinies at Honda
The two French riders in the MotoGP paddock, Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo, seem poised to experience a 2027 season under the same banner: that of Honda. Johann, already contracted with LCR, appears to be an obvious choice for the manufacturer, while rumors suggest that Quartararo could join the official team. According to Motorsport.com, this information was confirmed last month, but as often in the industry, nothing is set in stone yet.
“We don’t know if it’s done,” Zarco tempers, when asked by the YouTube channel Fastlane TV. Preferring to wait for an official announcement, he adds with a hint of mystery: “I don’t know. Sometimes, we have surprises.” A way for him to keep the suspense intact, like a good thriller whose conclusion we await.
A Surprising Choice for Quartararo
Zarco admits to being surprised by Quartararo’s interest in Honda. The 2021 world champion is coming out of a difficult period with Yamaha, which, despite its status as an iconic Japanese brand, has faced turbulence similar to that of Honda in recent years. These issues, often attributed to the conservative methodology of the Japanese, contrast with the boldness of European manufacturers.
“I wouldn’t have believed he could be interested in another Japanese brand,” Zarco confides. He goes on to suggest that if Fabio wants a change, he should rather look towards a European brand. “He has done so much with Yamaha… It’s true that Honda has that Japanese mentality, but it’s not the same bike, so I think it’s good,” he adds, while hinting that diversity can bring a breath of fresh air.
“There’s a way to make France proud!”

The prospect of seeing Zarco and Quartararo riding the same bike in 2027 offers exciting promises for French MotoGP fans. Honda seems to have regained some dynamism since last year, while Yamaha struggles to recover after abandoning its famous inline four-cylinder in favor of a V4, a change that requires significant development work.
Zarco is convinced that this new Honda could allow Quartararo to reconnect with success. With the changes brought by the new MotoGP regulations, he states: “I think Fabio is a top rider and if he gets on the Honda, I think he will ride very well. So, it would be a good example to have. And there’s a way to make France proud!”
For Johann, the future seems promising: “The bike, in my opinion, could also be very good in 2027 since everything is new. With all the work we’ve done there, we’re taking information that can help us for 2027, even if the project is new. We don’t know which bike will be the best. With a bit of luck, it’s the Honda, so it could be really cool.”
The Challenge of Change
This move to Honda represents a real challenge for Quartararo. After several seasons under Yamaha’s colors, the brand change could prove to be a decisive turning point in his career. Like a football player changing clubs after a difficult period, Fabio will need to find his bearings quickly. The stakes are high: to prove that he can shine at the top with a bike that has its own demands.
For Zarco, this change could also be an opportunity for a comeback. Although already committed to LCR, the possibility of riding alongside Quartararo could bring a new dynamic to his career. The two French riders could create an interesting synergy, offering Honda a duo capable of competing with the best teams in the paddock.
A Story Being Written
As the months go by and official announcements are awaited, MotoGP fans are holding their breath. The 2027 season could mark a turning point in the history of the championship, with the pairing of the two French talents within the same team. Zarco and Quartararo, together on a revitalized Honda, could well write a new glorious chapter in French motorcycle racing.
It remains to be seen if this promise will materialize. In the ruthless world of MotoGP, where surprises are commonplace, it will be necessary to keep a close eye on upcoming developments. One thing is certain: enthusiasts will be there to follow this promising adventure.
