Mercedes unveils its bold plan for an expanding electric range

The automotive world is undergoing a transformation, and Mercedes-Benz is no exception. With the announcement of six new 100% electric models by 2026, the German manufacturer positions itself as a key player in electric mobility. These revelations, which suggest an electrifying future, add to an already well-established strategy.

A growing electric range

Last Thursday, during a significant presentation, Mercedes unveiled its roadmap for the coming years. Indeed, six new 100% electric vehicles (BEV) are expected by 2026, followed by three more in 2027. This information comes from presentations accompanying the 2025 annual report, marking a decisive turning point in the manufacturer’s history.

Mercedes’ strategy revolves around three distinct families: Top-End (including the S-Class, the EQS, and the G-Class), Core (featuring the E-Class, the EQE, the C-Class, and the GLC), and Entry (which includes the GLA, the CLA, etc.). In the Top-End category, two new BEVs are expected to debut in 2026, among which the AMG GT 4-door is anticipated, integrating the new axial flow motors.

The axial flow motors and immersion-cooled cells from the AMG GT XX study are expected to enter series production in 2026, likely in the AMG GT 4-door.

Models that inspire dreams

The second high-end novelty could be the VLS van, a more luxurious version of the VLE, with its presentation expected on March 10. For 2027, two more high-end BEVs are announced, including an SUV derived from the AMG GT 4-door, promising an unprecedented driving experience.

Diverse segments

In the Core segment, representing the high end of segments D and C, the arrival of the electric C-Class in 2026 now seems inevitable, with a launch planned for the first quarter. Other mid-range variants could also enrich this range, such as a C-Class station wagon (T-Modell) or a GLC Coupe.

Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius also mentioned an electric E-Class for 2027. Regarding Entry, the GLA EQ is expected to be the fourth iteration based on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), already used for the CLA and GLB. Although rumors are circulating about a future A-Class, its arrival is not expected before 2028 or later.

As early as the IAA 2023, Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius announced four MMA models.

A renewed vision

Among other BEV novelties, the emergence of a small G-Class is noted, already mentioned during the IAA 2023. Its precise positioning is not yet defined, but it seems to be situated more in the Core segment and should not be included in the seven global models that Mercedes plans to unveil in the coming three months.
