Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X Sets Record as America’s Fastest Production Car

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X: The New Benchmark

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X has officially claimed the title of the quickest American production car currently available. Not only that, it also stands as the fastest vehicle to complete a quarter mile without a price tag exceeding one million pounds.

Quarter Mile Performance

In a stunning display of speed, the Corvette ZR1X achieved a quarter mile time of 8.675 seconds at a top speed of 159 mph. This marks a new record for sub-million pound vehicles, surpassing the previous record set by the Lucid Air Sapphire, which completed the distance in 8.95 seconds at 158 mph.

Acceleration Off the Line

The ZR1X’s acceleration is nothing short of remarkable. It can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.68 seconds, outpacing the Lucid Air by 0.21 seconds, further solidifying its place as a leader in high-performance automotive engineering.

Record-Setting Specifications

The specific ZR1X model used for this record run was equipped with the standard aerodynamic package and featured carbon fibre wheels shod with Michelin PS4S tyres. It is worth noting that the track surface was meticulously prepared prior to the run to maximise grip and performance.

Powertrain Details

The ZR1X is the most extreme variant of the current-generation Corvette lineup. It boasts a powerful 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, complemented by an electric motor. This impressive setup produces a total output of 1,250 horsepower, with power being distributed to all four wheels for enhanced traction and stability.
