McLaren W1: Hypercar Testing on Public Roads in Spain

Powertrain details

The W1 serves as McLaren’s next-generation hypercar and successor to the iconic P1. It features a new 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with a hybrid system, delivering an impressive 1,258 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque.

Lightweight construction

Built on a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, the W1 weighs just 1,399 kg. This results in a remarkable power-to-weight ratio of 911 PS per tonne, allowing for exceptional performance on the road.

Acceleration and performance

McLaren claims that the W1 can accelerate from 0 to 124 mph in just 5.8 seconds, placing it among the fastest hypercars currently in development.

Extensive testing regime

The hypercar has undergone rigorous testing in various conditions, having covered over 3,000 miles in the intense heat of Arizona. It has also faced the extreme cold of Arctic temperatures, ensuring it can perform across a wide range of environments.
