After a 2025 season marked by injuries that could have sidelined any rider, Jorge Martín is finally preparing to get back on his motorcycle. After several surgeries to repair a damaged collarbone and scaphoid, he is now ready to return to the circuits, and with a positive mindset!
A Long-Awaited Return
Jorge Martín experienced a tumultuous 2025 season, filled with sometimes serious injuries. In mid-December, the Spanish rider underwent two surgical procedures to address the aftermath of his misadventures. The doctors had to address his right collarbone and, most importantly, his left scaphoid, a fragile bone that he had injured last spring. These surgeries forced the 2024 world champion to miss the preseason testing that was scheduled for last week in Malaysia.
A Light at the End of the Tunnel
Although he was present in Sepang, Jorge Martín could not hit the asphalt as a rider, only observing others during the three-day tests. Nevertheless, his optimism was palpable: “I finally see the light,” he stated, referring to his imminent return to 100% of his physical capabilities. The Aprilia rider was waiting for a final medical visit to get the long-awaited green light. This check-up took place this Monday and provided the answer he hoped for.
Medical Green Light and Aprilia Confirmation
The doctors in Madrid have given their approval to Jorge Martín, allowing the rider to travel to Buriram, Thailand, to participate in the official MotoGP tests. Aprilia confirmed this good news in a statement: “Jorge Martín underwent a check-up today regarding his left hand and right collarbone at the Ruber International Hospital in Madrid. The outcome of the visit is positive, and the Spanish rider has received permission to go to Buriram.” Although he has received this authorization, he will still have to pass a final examination by the championship’s medical delegation to participate in the test.

Preparing for a Crucial Season
Last Saturday, during the season launch event, Jorge Martín was able to take a lap of the circuit, even though he was not yet in competitive mode. In a story on his social media, he expressed his gratitude: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my doctors, Samuel Antuña, Raúl, and Ignacio Roger de Oña for their excellent work and dedication. I am ready to get back on a motorcycle.” This testimony not only demonstrates his determination but also the trust he places in his medical team.
Excellence in Care
The doctors who took care of Martín are the same ones who assisted Marc Márquez during his recovery after a series of surgeries on his humerus, which had threatened his career. A great reference to the quality of care he received, highlighting the importance of having a competent medical team in a sport as demanding as MotoGP.
Toward a Promising Future
Jorge Martín is therefore ready to resume preparation for his season with renewed energy. Subject to the mandatory medical check-up by the championship, he is expected to participate in the final winter tests on February 21 and 22 in Buriram. A week later, he will be on the starting grid for the Thai GP, which will mark the start of the season. Everything seems finally aligned for him to restart his career with a bang.
Other Riders in Recovery
Also absent from the Sepang test, Fermín Aldeguer continues to recover from a fractured leg sustained during training in early January. The Gresini team is “quite certain” that he will be present in Brazil for the second Grand Prix of the season, scheduled for March 20-22, without ruling out that he could return as early as Thailand. For his part, Fabio Quartararo is already confirmed to return to Buriram after missing the last days of testing due to a fracture of the middle finger on his right hand.
