Rally Sweden 2026: everything you need to know about the route, participan…

The Rally Sweden returns in 2026 with a programme as exciting as it is demanding. After a morning shakedown, competitors will launch into a first special stage that promises to be decisive. The tension is at its peak between the Toyota armada and Hyundai’s ambitions!

The route and timings

The official start of the Rally Sweden will take place in the afternoon on Thursday, 12th February, following a shakedown that will allow drivers to familiarise themselves with the Swedish terrain. The first special stage will stretch for about ten kilometres, a true warm-up before the battle of the following days.

Friday and Saturday will be particularly intense, each with seven special stages. In total, the rally will feature 18 special stages covering a total of 300.66 km of timed sections. The final stage will consist of three crucial time trials that could alter the overall standings. Get ready, because every second will count!

The participants in Rally1

This year, as in Monte Carlo, 11 competitors will fight for victory in the Rally1 category. However, the notable absence of Sébastien Ogier will be felt. The champion, who has opted for a partial programme, will adjust his participations according to his son’s holidays.

Toyota will line up an impressive fleet of five cars. The latest Yaris will be entrusted to Lorenzo Bertelli, while in Hyundai, the third i20 N will be driven by Esapekka Lappi. M-Sport Ford will not be left behind, with one of the three cars assigned to Martins Sesks. The level of competition is very high, and each team will do everything possible to shine in front of the Swedish audience.

Rally Sweden 2026: everything you need to know about the route, participants, and challenges

Here is Adrien Fourmaux during the Rally Monte-Carlo 2026. This driver knows that the Rally Sweden is relentless: “You have to commit fully in all the special stages. Our car must be very precise so that we can optimise our speed using the snowbanks without getting stuck in them.”

Fourmaux continues: “In recent years, the ground has been more frozen and there has been little fresh snow, so there should be fewer snowbanks. However, I hope that the grip will be worse than last year. A very well-balanced car is needed that inspires confidence and allows you to commit fully in every corner.”

He also highlights the difference with Monte Carlo: “Unlike that event, this is a rally purely focused on performance throughout the weekend. It is crucial to take the weather conditions into account when adjusting the car. We have a good road position for this event, so the goal is to give it our all to win and close the gap in the manufacturers’ championship.”
