Victory for Shelton at the BMW Open

Ben Shelton triumphed over Flavio Cobolli in the final of the BMW Open by Bitpanda 2026, winning 6:2, 7:5 at Munich’s Centre Court. This victory comes a year after his defeat to Alexander Zverev in the same event, marking a significant milestone for the 23-year-old American.

A Rewarding Win

As champion, Shelton not only received €467,485 in prize money and 500 ATP ranking points but also an all-electric BMW iX3 50 xDrive. This vehicle is part of BMW’s Neue Klasse lineup, noted for its advancements in electromobility, connectivity, and design. The iX3 boasts a WLTP electric range of 679-805 km and a combined energy consumption of 17.9 – 15.1 kWh/100 km.

Strong Tournament Performance

The tournament attracted around 70,000 spectators over the week, with players collectively serving 300 aces in singles and doubles matches. For each ace, BMW Group will donate coaching lessons to disadvantaged youths through their FUTURE ACES programme, which aims to integrate young people into tennis.

Doubles Title Goes Local

In doubles competition, local players Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner clinched their first ATP title by defeating French duo Theo Arribage and Albano Olivetti with a score of 6:4, 6:7, 12:10.

FUTURE ACES Programme

Initiated by BMW Group alongside MTTC Iphitos and MMP EVENTS, the FUTURE ACES initiative supports disadvantaged children by providing access to tennis coaching. This year’s tournament will fund coaching sessions that continue to empower young participants in their sporting journey.

Alongside the main event, the Allianz Para Trophy showcased competitive wheelchair tennis, featuring a newly upgraded 500-category tournament. Top seed Gustavo Fernandez successfully defended his title in the Open Division, while Sam Schroder took victory in the newly introduced Quad Division.
