Strategic Cooperation Agreement
Audi and SAIC have solidified their long-standing partnership with a new strategic cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing collaboration throughout the entire value chain for Audi’s future models. This initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated Innovation & Technology Center in Shanghai, which will be led by Audi AG.
Focus on New Model Development
The partnership marks an important step for Audi in China, following the successful launch of the AUDI brand in 2024. The new agreement will facilitate the development of four all-new models on the next generation of the Advanced Digitized Platform (ADP), with the AUDI E5 Sportback debuting in 2025 and the first SUV, the AUDI E7X, set to be showcased at Auto China 2026. A third model is expected to follow in 2027.

Gernot Döllner, Chairman of Audi AG, expressed that their ambition is to maintain a robust presence in China during the era of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). He stated, “Our partnership with SAIC and our NEV brand AUDI has been instrumental in connecting with new customer groups and expanding our product offerings.”
Innovation & Technology Center Details
The new AUDI Innovation & Technology Center will prioritise the development of technologies specific to the Chinese market, focusing on intelligent electrification and whole-vehicle development for ICVs. The centre aims to position Audi as a leading premium brand in this sector, offering advanced technology and smart solutions tailored for Chinese consumers, including AI-powered smart cabins and sophisticated driver assistance systems.
Upcoming Models and Market Impact
The agreement will enable Audi to launch four new models leveraging the ADP architecture designed for future ICVs. Fermín Soneira, CEO of the collaboration project between Audi and SAIC, described this extension of their partnership as a “historic milestone” that will pave the way for innovative connected vehicles in China.
AUDI E7X Debut at Auto China 2026
The forthcoming AUDI E7X SUV exemplifies this commitment to innovation. It is designed with a strong emphasis on digital experiences within the cabin, elevated rear-seat comfort, and entertainment systems that cater specifically to Chinese consumers’ preferences.
